Tell us about a time where you lived in community. This could be living with siblings, living in a residence hall in college, summer camp, or living in an astronaut pod on Mars (I once had a Ph.D student that was designing these, so who knows). What did you love? What did you hate?
Put yourself in the shoes of these folx for a moment. They have seen a risen Jesus. They have been filled with the Holy Spirit. They have witnessed healings and miracles in the name of Jesus through the Apostles. They were forever changed for the ordinary. How might you approach living in intentional community now?
More than one commentary states the members of this community experienced spontaneous love for one another. Have you ever experienced spontaneous love for another human like this? If not, what do you think it might take to have this experience? Does your answer make the situation in this verse even more profound for you?
I lived in the Barracks in my first 2 years in the NAVY. I loved having my friends nearby I could walk down the hall and say hi almost anytime. I hated being in such small confines. I wanted a bigger bathroom and kitchen. It was so small. I think that in those situation I would become zealously attached toward the work of the community actually taking part in miracles would be quite the heady task. spontaneous love, what is that does that mean that suddenly they felt strong positive emotions without cause or reason? It seems more like they suddenly realized that because of the situation they felt agape or communal connection to those people even if they did not know them on a more personal level. Our language does not do well with love and it has many meanings.
